Abstract

The article offers information on the John Birch Society (JBS) and its members. JBS was founded by Robert Welch with the intention of fighting communism. The first meeting of the society took place on December 8, 1958 at the home of Marguerite Dice, a resident of Indianapolis, Indiana. Many of the issues the JBS tackles today mirror those of a half-century ago. There's less talk of communism and more about American sovereignty. INSET: Mother of a Movement.
