Abstract
- The article features the Crenicichla jupiaensis, known as joaninha or joana-listrada, and one of the endangered species of fish in the world. It notes the physical identification of Crenicichla jupiaensis and its endemic distribution in Paraná River basin in Brazil. It suggests that constructions of dams and destruction of lotic habitats have caused the decline of the population of Crenicichla jupiaensis.
