Abstract

The article discusses the use of "Janus," a computing system based on field programmable gate arrays (FPGAs), to generate simulations for Monte Carlo statistical mechanics. Topics include a description of the Janus architecture, details of Monte Carlo procedures, the requisite software environment, and modifying Janus for spin-system simulations.
