Abstract

The article focuses on the study of cinema which needs to incorporate a diversity of approaches generated through a sustained expansion, interrogation and dialogue with media studies. It states that the study of popular media in India has been a subject of academic discussions associated with film via film appreciation courses held at the Poona Film Institute. Cinematography has gained a great context of cultural history to be studied as one of the defining features of twentieth-century modernity through a wide spectrum of approaches to research. Accordingly, globalization has expanded the coverage of cinema in India, through circulation while intimating new technologies of exhibition, attempts at industrial consolidation, and new entries into international markets.
