Abstract: In December 2008, plerixafor (Mozobil; Genzyme), an antagonist of the CXCR4 chemokine receptor, was approved by the US FDA for use in combination with granulocyte colony-stimulating factor to mobilize haematopoietic stem cells to the peripheral blood for collection and subsequent autologous transplantation in patients with non-Hodgkin's lymphoma and multiple myeloma.
