Abstract

The article discusses the issues concerning Schneieder's views on kinship. It explores the theory of procreation and co-fatherhood among the Yanomami. It examines the work of Alfred L. Kroeber, a pioneering linguistic anthropologist, on Zuni kinship terminology. According to Kroeber, kinship terminology as linguistic phenomena follows a logic inherent to the linguistic system itself. Also, it analyzes the relational terminology system at Zuni which includes the full linguistic repertoire of forms of social classificational nomenclature both in referential and reciprocal address usages.
