Abstract
- The article discusses the findings of a study on the impact of variations in fat mass- and obesity-associated gene (FTO) locus on weight loss and body composition in a lifestyle intervention program in a German population. The study revealed the link between risk allele and increased body weight and higher levels of body mass index (BMI) and total fat mass. It was stated that the variation in the FTO locus did not affect the rise in insulin sensitivity during weight loss.
