Abstract
- The article presents a debate on issues concerning dynamic taxonomy and field identification. Publication of the book "A Photographic Guide to Reptiles and Amphibians of New Zealand," by Tony Jewell, with photographs by Rod Morris, raised important questions about the ability of authors to provide accurate taxonomy guides when nomenclature changes are so frequent. According to the article, the process of updating technical nomenclature is lengthy. It states that although local tag names are not perfect, they are the best option until formal revisions are produced.
