Abstract
- The article presents an outlook for the manufacturing industry in Montana for 2009. It forecasts declines in manufacturing activity and related employment. Issues important to manufacturers include health insurance cost, cost of energy and workers' compensation rates. It explains that manufacturers' primary mode of transportation is trucking which makes cost of fuel and freight major transportation-related issues. Manufacturers say that access to markets is not an issue in the state.
