Abstract

The article presents a comparison of emergency medical technicians (EMTs) and wilderness first responders (WFR) in Australia. It states that EMTs are prepared to work in the rural or urban context and they respond primarily to emergencies while WFRs are prepared to work outdoors and they spend more of their time managing blisters and rashes. It is also vital to train people in wilderness medicine to handle the routine problems and manage the patient if transportation is delayed.
