Abstract

Data are presented showing possible differences in direction, magnitude, and kind of academic influences on students as exerted by the college teaching faculty and by Greek-letter social fraternities. These possible differences are attributed to the distinct kinds of relations that students have to these two college substructures. In the discussion of theoretical implications of the findings, the hypothetical and general picture offered is of student organizations that compete against each other in several arenas simultaneously.
