Abstract

The article offers information on denture hypersensitivity. Some of the symptoms indicating denture hypersensitivity include burning sensations of the tongue and gingiva, tenderness and oral pain. It is suggested that all possible causes must be examined if the patient has any problems following insertion. 66 patients at the University Clinic of Munster were examined and while all the patients had the denture removed for many days, one patient still had irritation due to the denture. It was concluded that the patients who have problems in denture adjustment must be examined carefully and if the denture is not causing adverse effects, emotional factors must be considered.
