Abstract

The article presents a randomized clinical trial which evaluates the efficacy and safety of T-614 antirheumatic agent versus methotrexate (MTX) in patients with active rheumatoid arthritis (RA). The results of the study indicated that T-614 therapy given at 50 milligram (mg)/day is as effective as MTX therapy in the 24 week trial, representing a new option for the treatment of RA. There was also no significant adverse cardiovascular events and gastrointestinal ulcers found in the T-614 groups.
