Abstract
- The article presents representations of "Chinatown" in Limehouse cinema. The entry discusses various policies practiced by the British Board of Film Censors and local councils in regulating film content. It analyzes shifts in the status of film as an art form during the postwar period. It examines Limehouse fiction in cinema from 1914 onwards, including "A Chinese Vengeance," "London's Yellow Peril" and "Broken Blossoms" and explains the analogies of these films to the social realities of that era.
