Abstract

The article reports on the call of the Food Standards Agency (FSA) for a 10% reduction in saturated fats in biscuits, cakes and chocolate confectionery, and a 4% reduction in sugar in Great Britain. Geoff Talbot, who was commissioned by the FSA to assess the saturated fat reduction, said that fat suppliers can supply a lower sat fat product without having substantial changes. Challenges of complying to the call of saturated fat reduction are cited.
