Abstract
- The article presents information on a study concerning the genetic relationship between single-nucleotide polymorphisms (SNPs) within systemic lupus erythematosus (SLE) and interleukin-21 receptor (IL21R). It features SLE as a chronic systematic autoimmune disease related to multiple organs. Results of the study suggest that IL21R is a novel susceptibility gene for SLE. It also indicates the importance of IL21R in understanding the origin and development of SLE.
