Abstract
- The article reports the closure of 13 depots, ammunition plants, and headquarters of the U.S. Army based from the 2005 Base Realignment and Closure (BRAC) Act. According to Colonel Jim Balocki, chief of the BRAC division in the Office of the Assistant Chief of Staff for Installation Management, the properties for closure will undergo the re-use process. If no other agency wants them, the Army will offer them for sale or for use by local communities. The criteria for re-use plans include housing for the homeless and protection of historic landmarks.
