Abstract
- The article reports on the development of Biofront, a new type of heat-resistant bioplastic, by the Tokyo, Japan-based Teijin Ltd. It cites the plan of the firm to fully commercialize the product as an alternative, environment-friendly plastic in 2009. Together with Mazda Motor Corp., a Biofront fabric for car seats was developed by the firm. The polylactic acid (PLA) demonstration plant of Toyota Motor Corp. acquired by Teijin is expected to be manufacturing Biofront by the summer of 2009.
