Abstract

The article offers information on the recommendations for Education for Sustainable Development (ESD) in Early Childhood Education in Sweden. These are the product of the collaboration among the Centre for Environment and Sustainability in Gothenburg, the Swedish Ministry of Education and Research, the Swedish National Commission for the United Nations Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organization (UNESCO), and the Swedish International Centre of Education for Sustainable Development. According to the authors, the guidelines were founded on the concept that children are competitive active factors in their own lives and have the capacity to be affected by the complexity of environmental and social issues. The recommendations include accessibility, gender and ESD in curriculum.
