The article presents a case study of a 12-year-old boy with chronic active Epstein-Barr virus infection (CAEBV) and has developed fatal acute circulatory failure during the preconditioning of hematopoietic stem cell transplantation (HSCT). Laboratory test find that degeneration of cardiac muscle and large vessel arteritis associated with CAEBV through an autopsy of the patient. The findings suggest that hemophagocytic syndrome and degeneration of cardiac muscles will cause the fatal arrhythmia.
