THE WISDOM OF DISTRUST: REFLECTIONS ON UKRAINIAN SOCIETY AND SOCIOLOGY.

The article presents a paper that offers a reflection on the meaning of trust based on the result of the survey "Tendencies in the Development of Ukrainian Society 1994-2001" conducted by Natalia Panina and Evgenity Golovakha in Ukraine. It notes that the survey, which aims to monitor the social situation in Ukrainian society, reported the high level of distrust of respondents on all aspect of life in Ukraine. It discusses the nature of trust, as well as the betrayals of trust. It explains that the distrust of the Ukrainian people was caused by experience of betrayal in terms of the political promises and expectations made by politicians and political parties.
