Abstract

The article presents news related to labor and labor unions in the U.S. as of March 1981. The International Ladies' Garment Workers' Union has shifted its Archives to the eighth floor of the Union Health Center building at 275 Seventh Avenue, New York. The Southern Labor Studies Association has organized the fourth Southern Labor History Conference to be held at Georgia State University in Atlanta in February, 1982. The National Association of Office Workers has a grant from the National Endowment for the Humanities to develop and disseminate a curriculum on the history and philosophy of working women. The project includes a four session course, a forum group, research projects, and a curriculum manual. The Pacific Northwest Labor History Association has published the book "Unionism or Hearst" by William E. Ames and Roger A. Simpson. The West Virginia Labor History Association, in conjunction with the State Department of Culture and History, held a "Mother Jones and the Miners" festival in Charleston on November 29-30, 1980. The Kansas Carpenters' History Project will produce a fifty-page pamphlet on the history of the Kansas Carpenters' Union and the carpentry trade, 1881 to 1981.
