Abstract

In this article the author discusses the competition between wireless technologies WirelessHART and ISA100.11a. He cites that Namur, the international user association of automation technology, states that competition between ISA and WirelessHART standards would hinder the wireless technologies' application in automation process and result to higher costs for users and vendors. He stresses that the criteria for competition should include reliability, functionality and profitability of devices.
