Abstract

The article presents the results of a study which examines the methylchloroisothiazolinone/methylisothiazolinone and formaldehyde-releasing preservatives contained in the British Contact Dermatitis Society (BCDS) baseline series in Great Britain. Based on the quantity of formaldehyde released, formaldehydereleasing preservatives show frequent cross-reactions with each other. Moreover, the study shows the cross-reaction between the chlorinated and unchlorinated isothiazolinone compounds.
