The author highlights the Brooklyn Banks in New York City and relates how the place has influenced his development as a skateboarder. He relates that since the release of the skateboarding video by Powell Peralta titled "Future Primitive" in 1985, the banks served as a meeting spot for many street skateboarders both in and outside New York. However, he mentions that starting January 2010, the Brooklyn Bridge is undergoing repairs that will make the Brooklyn Banks inaccessible to skaters until 2014 or beyond.
