Major Issues and Developments in Pakistan Cotton.

The article reports on the developments presented by delegates from Pakistan during the September 2009 meeting of the International Cotton Advisory Committee (ICAC). The effort to increase the national cotton yield is supported by research and development organizations. The Ministry of Food and Agriculture has a strategy to develop certified Bt cotton seeds and to encourage multinational companies to share their technologies to the farmers. The research is continued on finding other seed varieties that are resistant to cotton leaf curl virus disease.
