Abstract

The article outlines the sources and terms used in the presentation of data concerning the projections of the employment, industrial output, unemployment, and labor force trends from 2008-2018 in the U.S. It explains the definitions of the statistical terms including seasonal adjustment, adjustments for price changes, comparative indicators, employed persons, establishment, and production workers. It cites the web site sources including www.bls.gov/cps/, www.bls.gov/ces, and www.bls.gov/lpc. It provides descriptions on several data series including the Job Openings and Labor Turnover Survey (JOLTS), Employment Cost Index (ECI), and National Compensation Survey (NCS).
