Abstract
- The article presents a case series and a literature review on hyperbaric oxygen therapy in the treatment of post cardiac surgical stroke cases in the Christchurch Hospital in New Zealand. The average age of five males and seven males in the series is 67 years. Among the risk factors for the development of post-cardiac surgical strokes are age, hypertension and diabetes. Results show iatrogenic cerebral arterial gas embolism (CAGE) is a rare complication of invasive medical procedures.
