Abstract
- This paper deals with a correlated storage location assignment problem by considering the production bill of material (BOM) information. Due to the large number of parts in a BOM, the picking capacity constraint is considered. A mathematical model is formulated and a multi-stage heuristic is proposed. The heuristic relaxes the close interrelationships within the original problem through an improvement algorithm and an iterated approach to incorporate the effect of BOM splitting. In order to evaluate the performance of the heuristic, numerical experimentation is conducted in a single-block-multi-aisles warehouse, by using a randomly generated data set. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]
