Abstract

The article discusses a study which investigated the current use of hematopoietic stem cell transplantation (HSCT) to assess differences in its application. Associations of macroeconomic factors with transplant rates on a global level were also explored. The study involved patients receiving allogeneic and autologous HSCTs for 2006 collected by centers participating in the Worldwide Network for Blood and Marrow Transplantation. The researchers found that HSCT was frequently used in developed countries.
