Abstract

The article defines a management information system (MIS) as a form of communication, and uses that context to explore the effects that communication procedure may have on the receiver. The article offers definitions of communication and states that procedure has four dimensions: reference, requisition, reciprocity and redundancy. The article provides three different criteria under which future MIS are examined, including when reception is between adjacent positions without the need for request and when reception occurs between all positions without request. The article provides hypothesized effects on the receiver during communication.
