Abstract

The article focuses on the commentary "Comento," by Angelo Poliziano in 1480 regarding the book "Silvae," by Publius Papinius Statius. It says that the commentary is remarkable in observing the recondite and erudite nature of the said book which appealed to Poliziano. It mentions that Poliziano relates the preface in "Silvae" to the tales of Orpheus and Achilles to show the conception of evolution in poetry. Moreover, Poliziano dealt with the communication idea in the multitude of audiences.
