Abstract

Discrete Element Method is applied for studying the particle flowing process of loose powder in High Velocity Compaction. The characteristics of high strain rate, viscous effect of HVC powder are described by constitutive model which consists of linear springs and high strain rate Maxwell body. Then the governing equation of particle flow for High Velocity Compaction is established and the calculation method of contact force is improved. Based on computing software PFC2D, the particle flowing process and density distribution during High Velocity Compaction is simulated. The results give good agreement with experiments, which show damping coefficient variation has effect on the convergence and divergence of solving process rather than flowing process. Finally the density distribution is analyzed. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]
