Abstract

The article focuses on the developments in Mannerist art and architecture and the creation of Mannerism as a distinct category in the period between 1920 to 1950. It discusses the influence of Mannerism art in the development of Modernity and Modernism, as well as how the Mannerist art was connected to the baroque art. It also discusses how the psychological readings of Mannerist art helped understand the structure of the modern self and modern society.
