Abstract

The article discusses the consideration of space and place in fisheries science and governance. It discusses the spatial dimensions in fisheries science and management which include governance, resources and habitats, and fisheries exploitation. The spatial management measures that can be adopted in fisheries science and governance include temporary and permanent fishing restrictions. The use of a participatory planning process in addressing fisheries management is also mentioned, which includes identification of governance models.
