Abstract
- In this article, the author examines the representation of violence in Dancing Crane's "Remains of Life." The article notes that the novel focuses on the trauma of the Musha Incident and the declining Atayal aborigines of Taiwan. The author explains his analysis of the novel and provides an explanation for the use of the historical account of the decapitations and the ethnic conflicts by the author of the novel. The article also notes that the author's unruly language is a reflection of the marginality of the aborigines. It is noted that the decapitation of the aborigines is a symbolic castration.
