Abstract: The article focuses on the study which examines the temporal trends of reference evapotranspiration (ET<subscript>ref</subscript>) in the Yellow River Basin (YRB), China. Sensitivity coefficients of ET<subscript>ref</subscript> to meteorological variables were identified with contributions of key meteorological variables to the temporal trend of ET <subscript>ref</subscript> being detected. The sensitive regions for ET<subscript> ref</subscript> response to the changes of the four meteorological variables are not similar in the YRB.
