Abstract

The article presents a study which focuses on the public health challenges of the 2009 H1N1 influenza pandemic. It looks at the H1N1 pdm modeling conducted during the first meeting of an informal network convened by the World Health Organization (WHO) in the U.S. Pubic health challenges include measuring age-specific immunity to infection, improving treatment outcomes for severe cases and quantifying the effectiveness of interventions. Ways on meeting those public challenges are also discussed.
