Abstract

The article focuses on the competition between Japanese and European economies. It says that manufacturers in Japan and Europe produce similar types of products but Japanese emphasizes on foreign sales. It states that European Commissioner Finn Olav Gundelach notified Japanese Deputy Foreign Minister Bunroku Yoshino that Japan needs to present a plan to correct the imbalance in trade or face retaliation by probable imposition of additional import duties on Japanese goods which are suspected as being dumped. Meanwhile, Japan agreed to shipbuilding negotiations and suggested to raise quotas on imports of European skimmed milk, butter and cheese into Japan.
