Abstract

The article reports on the failure of Egyptian, Israeli and U.S. negotiators to develop a peace treaty between Egypt and Israel on the slopes of Mount Sinai. It highlights the disappointment of U.S. Secretary of State Cyrus Vance who was hoping of creating an Egyptian-Israeli peace treaty by December 17, 1978. It emphasizes the unresolved issues between Israeli Prime Minister Menachem Begin and Egyptian President Anwar Sadat which hinder the development of a peace treaty. It states that the missed deadline was due to the rejection of the treaty revisions by Jerusalem.
