Abstract

The article focuses on the modern architectural design in the U.S. wherein the modernist enterprise aims to create a social change that will diffuse several revolutionary philosophies including Russian constructivism, Dadaism and Surrealism. It states that architecture is the most expensive art but is also the slowest to vary, such as in the architecture of building wherein a standard method of construction is still necessary. Charles Jencks, an English architecture critic, says that any building with funny curves and esthetic imaging should be labeled as post-modern art, and suggests that the term should be restricted to hybrid buildings with historic design. Furthermore, information on several professional architects such as Frank Lloyd Wright and Ludwig Mies van der Rohe are presented.
