Abstract
- The article explores the career of American painter Charles Sheeler. Sheeler, who studied at the School of Industrial Art, promoted folk art through his paintings. He has painted several 1917-1918 barns. One of Sheeler's famous paintings is the Bucks County Barn, which features a typical Pennsylvania bank barn built in the 18th and 19th centuries by German and English settlers. The exhibition "Charles Sheeler in Doylestown: American Modernism and the Pennsylvania Tradition" showcased Sheeler's barn paintings at the Allentown Art Museum.
