Abstract

The article offers poetry criticism of the poem "Elegy" by Sextus Propertius. It states that the poem demands a response and announces itself as significant. It presents the poet-lover's dream of imagining ways on how to save his lover after being shipwrecked. It points on the generically conventional character of the poem named Cynthia and the poet's attempt of rescuing her permits the love story to continue.
