Abstract

The article reports on the railroad strike called by the four labor unions of Machinists, Electricians, Boilermakers and Sheet Metal Workers on Union Pacific Railroad Co., and the subsequent lockout by the railroad. It resulted in the U.S. District Court in Washington issuing a restraint order stopping both the strike and the lockout asking the U.S. Government to find a solution in ten days. It also discusses the earlier strikes and on the reasons of failure of the negotiations between the parties.
