Abstract

The article reports on the kidnapping of West Germany's consulate in Spain, Eugen Beihl in Spain's Basque province and focuses on Euskadi at Askatu-sana (ETA) guerrillas who were responsible for the kidnapping. It is reported that when the police reached Basque, they met a strong resistance from 150,000 workers and a state of emergency was declared in Guipuzcoa, one of Spain's four Basque provinces. It is stated that the Basques, who forms the core of ETA, are the oldest tribe in Europe.
