Abstract

The article presents a chronological record of events in the Jewish history. In 1878, the pioneer village of Jewish immigrants who came from Russia called the Petach Tikva or Gate of Hope was established, while in 1897, Theodore Herzl was named president of the World Zionist Congress, which aimed at the creation of a home for Jewish people in Palestine. The Jewish population was increased to 85,000 during the second Aliyah or wave of immigration in 1904-1914. On May 14, 1948, the state of Israel was formally proclaimed by David Ben-Gurion, but on June 5-10, 1967, Israel's armed forces attacked the Arab armies and destroyed the Egyptian air force.
