Abstract
- The article explores how John Duncan Semple, popularly known as Jock Semple, organizes the annual Boston Athletic Association Marathon in Massachusetts. Semple made national news when Kathy Switzer crashed the 1967 marathon, an event for men's only. The Boston Marathon is considered to be the second largest international sports event in the world, behind the Olympic Games. Semple processes applications from runners who want to participate in the event.
