Abstract

The article profiles Reverend Pedro Arrupe, a Spanish Jesuit provincial of Japan. Arrupe is considered as the master of novices at the Jesuit novitiate in the country on August 6, 1945. It notes that he became the Jesuit vice provincial in 1954. He also serves as the 28th leader of the order of the Society of Jesus and is recognized as the "Black Pope" of the Roman Catholic Church.
