Abstract

The article focuses on Russian writer Aleksandr Isaevich Solzhenitsyn as he made literary pieces catering to the oppression experienced by people under the Soviet Union which caused him persecution from the government. It states that his works, particularly "One Day in the Life of Ivan Desinovich," mirrored issues against the government of the Soviet Union encouraging dissent. It also highlights other authors who took a stand similar with Solzhenitsyn such as Leo graf Tolstoy and Maksim Gorky.
