Abstract
- The article discusses the new gimmicks, new lanes and hyped-up rules associated with the launch of the National Bowling League (NBL) as a big-time spectator sport in the U.S. in October 1961. It says that the NBL is dedicated to the proposition that many people are willing to pay good money to watch other people play bowling. According to the author, the owners have already gambled as much as 14 million U.S. dollars on the proposition. The highlights of the premiere event of the NBL in Dallas, Texas, are also presented.
